So I've decided I need a coat for my lolita. Dutch winters get pretty chilly, after all. But importing a coat would be like zomg expensive. So I found this coat from a place here.

I think it looks like it could fit lolita skirts but I could be wrong. I have a lousy eye for these things. But it looks like it has shirring in the back and some extra give (though it doesn't look like a lot) and looks pretty foldy, so maybe...

Either way it's a metric ton cheaper than alternatives. So, thoughts? I guess I could always try and send it back if it really doesn't work.

Mozilla seems to have decided that making Firefox more like Internet Explorer is better, or something:

Right-clicking on elements (including links and images) no longer offers a "Properties" menu item. The properties dialog box was not useful for most users and has been removed. If your extension interacts with that menu item in any way, you'll need to revise your code to add it yourself, or contribute your own context menu entry directly.

Source
Not useful for most users? How the heck did you arrive at that conclusion? Either way, was it really that horrible to have that option for the people who did use it? What kind of weak rationale is this? This is something I expect from Microsoft, not Mozilla.

So guys, if you're using Firefox and you use the right click properties menu even on a semi-regular basis, don't expect it to be there in the next version. Personally, I find this extremely facepalm worthy. Particularly since they acknowledge within that same section that addons might make use of it.

After all, it's already been rolled out to the FF3.6 test builds.

Deceptively simple looking in concept, this racer is actually a joy to play. The basis gist of it is that you're a dirt bike racer of some sort, riding across various zany levels doing various zany stunts. It's all very zany.

But controlling the bike, despite only using one stick and a throttle (and sometimes the brake) is actually harder than you'd think. Getting your balance just right so you can slam dunk an entire track is pretty hard, and that's on easy and medium. Still when you finally get a gold medal it's very gratifying.

And it's cheap, only 1200 points on XBLA. So good fun-for-value ratio.

Thursday I went to the beach with a bunch of my friends. It was pretty good, even though I had to get up at an inhuman hour to get there on time. Also, the 15 minute tram ride - both ways - sucked pretty hard. Lots of people crammed into a tiny space on a hot, hot day. Lots of sweating was involved.

Anyway so, yeah. Beach. We just lounged, swam twice, and then the six of us went out to dinner. Hogod expensive! But oh well, gotta eat, right? People made fun of me for being pale. :( In fact I was paler than the sun-loathing lolita we had with us. Scary.

Meanwhile my local friend who moved away is now back and we hung out for most of saturday, played video games and I introduced her to the new Doctor Who. She liked it!

We also played Fable 2. Note that going around killing people right at the start of the game is probably not such a great idea! The guards are tough, and the bandits you have to kill as community service aren't much easier.

Also we might go do archery together. Maybe. Who knows. Turns out someone who's about my age was looking for a dance partner for classes, because she'd been wanting to learn for years. And she's local.

It's like I wrote that ad, and in fact I had been thinking of writing one pretty much exactly like it. They combine quick action-based gameplay with classic RPG strategy and storytelling. TCPE's prefer a larger palette of options provided by complex button combos or large menus. The Action Role-Player likes to use their mind as a weapon and then turn that brainpower into brute force. Preparing for battle is almost as important as the battle itself for a TCPE, but they still feel the need to convey the action through their twitchy fingers. They also expect their games to entertain them. TCPE's will usually overlook a game's fairly easy difficulty if it satisfies their hunger for strategy and a good story.

Games TCPE's like: Kingdom Hearts, The Elder Scrolls, Chrono Trigger, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

TWITCH

You have a strong twitch reflex, which means that your muscles tend to move in very quick jerky movements. This makes you especially adept to action games, since they rely on that very same jerky motion and quick button pressing. You probably beat the pants off of others in minigames using the "tap A to run" mechanism, and you hold your own even in fighting games that you've never played because you can execute the moves very quickly. Unfortunately, you also have trouble with games that require precision movements like shooting games. Your thumbs are just too fast and that little analog stick is so sensitive! And games that require precise timings like the Mario Bros 3 extra life slider give you trouble as well.

COMPLEX

The more the better is your motto. You want your games to be a nuanced and varied as you are. You don't mind shuffling through an extra menu or two or learning a couple more combos. If it will add depth to the game and give you more freedom, bring it on! You've probably debated on more than one occasion why can't Pokemon have more than four moves at a time. Or you've committed yourself to learning Zangeif's entire moveset, just to be that much better for the next match. You enjoy managing money, stats and equipment, making your team or army or city bigger, better, and badder. And you're always looking for a new way to complete a task. You also tend to lose interest or generally have trouble with simpler games, as you become frustrated or confused by the lack of things in your control.

PLANNING

When it comes to the actual act of playing, you're a no-frills flawless machine. It's a good thing that video game characters don't actually carry all the stuff in your inventory, because they'd probably suffocate underneath it all! You've got your armies all highly trained and equipped with rocket launchers and jeeps with gatling guns. You didn't even have to be in the same room as your PS2 to finish the final boss of Final Fantasy XII. You're prepared for anything because you've got it all figured out ahead of time. But even the best plans backfire sometimes and that's where your weakness shines through. You're so used to having enough healing potions that when you actually run out you're a sitting duck.

ENTERTAINMENT

You play mostly for the fun of the game. Whether its the story, the gameplay, or just the overall feel of the game, something about it draws you in. You'll find yourself popping a game in years after you completed it to revisit the characters, locales, and gameplay. You probably own at least a few game soundtracks and maybe a few posters. You appreciate games as art and a way to pass the time. You may also play competitively (either professionally or amateur) but that's not the reason you'll be playing them 40 years from now.

Take What Kind Of Gamer Are You? at HelloQuizzy

I'm impressed.

I was totally off my game today and it sucked. It sucked, it sucked, it sucked, it SUCKED. At least I lasted the full hour.

Note: for the astute reader who's going "she's skipped a day!" that's right. Every 6th day I take a break, except this week the 6th day happened to be on sunday, which was actually the 3rd day. It makes sense in my head, honest.

Got my first AAA on It's a Wonderful Day, on Light. Sure it's an easy song but it's my first completely perfect run, so notable! Set a whole buncha other records too, including an A on Daikenkai Standard. Still have half an hour today to go to be up to 2 hours of DDR over 2 days.

Today I seem to have a lot more stamina than on the first day. Also a note for later, my starting weight is 65kg or ~143lbs.

Makeup question!

So I'm thinking about getting over my makeup aversion (the rebellion has lasted long enough) and start doing some minimal makeup again. I'm not that well versed in it though, so I need some advice, which is where you guys (or rather girls) come in!

Here's what I'm thinking of doing; pencil eye liner, probably something soft so I can brush it out cause I suck with it, dark but not black, probably dark brown. Then curling my lashes. Possibly some earthy eye shadow for special occasions.

Now what I'm not sure about. First mascara. I hate the stuff, and I'm not convinced after curling if I really need it since I have decently long, dark and thick eyelashes naturally. Can I do eye liner but not mascara though? Or is that some sort of faux pas?

Further, is there anything that I can do for my lips besides full on lipstick? It's gooky and tastes funny and by god I hate it. Any suggestions in that area would be welcome. I have some Labello Pearl & Shine but it really doesn't do much visually. Glorified chapstick, I guess.

And then some, do you need blush to go with this? Not big on blush. But I suppose if I must I must, but I wanna know if I can get away with not doing it because... well yanno, lazy and I want to be very minimalist.

So, suggestions?

War of the Worlds live

Last night I saw War of the Worlds live in concert (the 70s musical version) directed by Jeff Wayne and with most of the original cast. It was pretty cheesy, medium quality 3d renders on a screen behind the orchestra to accompany the story, a virtual Richard Burton talking head to narrate, and actors who sang the various parts and were projected onto the screen. Quite a few of the original names, too.

The effects were cool too, a huge tripod lowered down from the ceiling, showing artillery explosions on it, and light effects (and blinding flashes) to show the heat rays. Falling leaves from the ceiling, that kind of thing. Fun, if you don't think too hard about it. Definitely was an experience.

Of course the extremely long trip there, then to Rotterdam to crash at my brother's place, then back in the heat we've been having kind of put a damper on the fun. Oh well, such things happen I guess.
